Storytelling is in the DNA of the Amsterdam based production company Blackframe, founded in 2006 by producer Sanne Cousijn and director/producer Camiel Zwart. At Blackframe we create short and feature length documentaries for cinema, television and web. In close collaboration with our directors we strive to make intriguing and compelling productions; quirky and sincere films that lay at the heart of society. Blackframe’s documentaries are artistic, author driven and personal; music, art and dance as well as human interest are subjects we care deeply about. At Blackframe we nurture telling stories in innovative ways, working with new filmmakers as well as established directors. We support these makers while they reach their stories full potential and provide them with the tools they need to express their creativity. With this vision, we have created a wide variety of award-winning projects screened at festivals world-wide.

Controversial artist and activist Katinka Simonse (Tinkebell) doesn’t let anything stop her in her quest to save the world through art. By going to extreme (personal) measures she shows us what we take for granted, which often leads to enormous amounts of hatemail and even death threats. Director Judith de Leeuw takes us on a journey through never before seen rough cut footage of her work and searches for the real Katinka behind the Tinkebell façade.
