A graduate from the Dutch Film Academy, Derk-Jan launched Amsterdam-based Keplerfilm with longtime friend Koji Nelissen in 2016. Keplerfilm focuses on feature film and has the ambition to tell stories about real people, with inescapable struggles and genuine desires, while at the same time always aiming to entertain the audience intellectually.
Derk-Jan has co-produced award-winning films such as Alejandro Landes’ Monos and Omar El Zohairy’s Feathers. He also co-produced Mikko Myllylahti’s The Woodcutter Story, which will premiere at the Semaine de la Critique at Cannes. He will release Fleur van der Meulen’s debut feature Pink Moon in Tribeca in June 2022 and is in post-production on Michiel ten Horn’s family film Hotel Sinestra
